about us

A social group of dedicated fly fishers who are passionate about fly fishing in the tropical north of Australia and equally as passionate about the close camaraderie this sport brings. This passion and dedication led to the creation of the NT Flyfishers Social Mob blog site; an interactive and creative outlet where everyone can share our wonderful fly fishing adventures and link into the “after fishing” social events we enjoy in this incredible part of the world.

What's There At The Moment

Great time of year whilst everyone is hammering the runoff two things start happening, one is the Barra start to return over the next few months there are numerous small ones who don't go vast distances.

The other species that like this time of year are Golden Trevally, if you see boiling water under trees or just off the the edges there likely to be schools of medium sized Goldens often accompanied by small Trevally and Queenfish.

I tend to find the bigger Golden Trevally right at the bottom of the low, rubbly points and still water suit their mooching habit of sucking up crabs etc. Always hang of these points and watch you will seethe odd tail break the surface as they nose down.

I will be there right through the good tides this week, it will be a change as the first 3 days I'm lure fishing, not so bad but ducking becomes a real art form, the rest of the month I'm back on the wand

See you there.
