about us

A social group of dedicated fly fishers who are passionate about fly fishing in the tropical north of Australia and equally as passionate about the close camaraderie this sport brings. This passion and dedication led to the creation of the NT Flyfishers Social Mob blog site; an interactive and creative outlet where everyone can share our wonderful fly fishing adventures and link into the “after fishing” social events we enjoy in this incredible part of the world.

SOMETIMES YOU FORGET

With all the wind in the last set of tides I was lucky to only have to fish 11th, 12th, 13th, it turned out to be mostly a millpond, just happened to have a 78 yr old American and his son on a Bow Hunting trip for Buffalo who decided something bigger then their 16 inch trout would be different, couldn't have asked for better,

Barra were numerous and caught plenty but having tried the usual big Queen fishy spots I remembered a place that I haven't fished in literally years.

So on the back of "let's go have a look" I made the long trip( 45 minutes), they were actually still there, its called the "Pommy Drop Off"  which is one of those stories in my history best forgotten.

Great to see someone at that age get stuck into catching a fish like this on his 8 wt, I also told him to make sure if you stick the arrow in a buffalo's arse he wont be impressed and you better have somewhere to run.

Cheers Graeme
