about us

A social group of dedicated fly fishers who are passionate about fly fishing in the tropical north of Australia and equally as passionate about the close camaraderie this sport brings. This passion and dedication led to the creation of the NT Flyfishers Social Mob blog site; an interactive and creative outlet where everyone can share our wonderful fly fishing adventures and link into the “after fishing” social events we enjoy in this incredible part of the world.

Courtesy of Tales from a Tinny boys - The Tinny Boys talk to Dion

The Territory Wildlife Park's aquarium is home to five captive barra estimated to be around 130cm long and weigh close to 70lb. Dion Wedd, one of the people who gets to feed these fish just so happens to be a  fly fisherman (and mobster) and has been observing their feeding patterns over the years. Tales from the Tinny caught up with Dion at the aquarium to get an insight into what makes these big barra tick.
