about us

A social group of dedicated fly fishers who are passionate about fly fishing in the tropical north of Australia and equally as passionate about the close camaraderie this sport brings. This passion and dedication led to the creation of the NT Flyfishers Social Mob blog site; an interactive and creative outlet where everyone can share our wonderful fly fishing adventures and link into the “after fishing” social events we enjoy in this incredible part of the world.

Lets Hope Not

Yellow Waters Cooinda
Unfortunately we just got a reality check, nobody gets grabbed out of a boat? We are fully aware the Crocodiles are capable of doing it, but generally all attacks are in water or on banks. We don't need Crocodiles to start seeing us as a floating smorgasbord of opportunity.

The Crocodile isn't the only worry in view of yesterdays shocking and fatal attack.

For years I have been involved or abreast of Parks Australia, who if given a chance wouldn't have anybody fishing in the park at all, they're stuck with the Alligator rivers, but Billabongs that's something else.  My worry is that they might restrict activity in many waterways. They already use any excuse to keep you out of Yellow Waters and in my experience if the issue is raised its not hard to convince the traditional owners that there is an unacceptable threat especially on the back of this tragedy, if that happens we have a problem as the NT Government doesn't have any veto over a federally run organisation full stop.

Bigger  tourists boats looking at Crocodiles  in Billabongs and the high numbers of Tours in the park is a much bigger business then the Rec fishing in billabongs.
