about us

A social group of dedicated fly fishers who are passionate about fly fishing in the tropical north of Australia and equally as passionate about the close camaraderie this sport brings. This passion and dedication led to the creation of the NT Flyfishers Social Mob blog site; an interactive and creative outlet where everyone can share our wonderful fly fishing adventures and link into the “after fishing” social events we enjoy in this incredible part of the world.

THE CUP

Off to Corroboree Park Tavern to see Peter and Lynn and try their new bottle shop!!  Ooops forgot aren't we also going fly fishing !!!!!!

Bit of a mishap today, Roggie was lacquering the cup for it's final gloss and the wind blew in where he had been tying all his flies.  It soon became a multi coloured chook cup.   He did find some turps and cleaned it up, but I wish I had taken a photo, because here are the flies he was tying so you can imagine the colourful mess .....just like the flies.  The table also looked like a rainbow chook had been plucked on it because he wasn't very  careful about the over spay from the lacquer!!

It reminds me of his flies actually  (the eyes always move)........some of the letters fell off the cup after he lacquered it !!!

Can't wait to catch up with everyone, including some we haven't seen for a long time!!

  1. On behalf of all the field of stayers on the heavy Corroboree track, I wish to say a heart felt thank you to Cathy and Rog for their efforts and flies leading up to and including the running of the Cup. Same applies to the mastery of the scoring system, expertly executed by Jim. I have to say that because I won, but the drug screen is still pending, so Peter you may be in for a surprise!!
Once I have the photos done, I'll chuck something up on the blog too and will reveal my secret weapon so everyone can have the same fun catching fish that I did. Jim, I'd be really keen for a run down on the numbers of fish landed, including the biggest of each species if you still have that info. If not, no dramas. Great weekend folks, can't wait for the Stakes!!

Thanks again to everyone that made the weekend a success, including all our sponsors/donors.
