ROXLEY ON BYNOE

Had a slow start to my three day trip to Bynoe last week. Fished Wednesday, very slow on the flats saw one decent Barra about 80 cm, but did not land a fish til I ventured out past Bare Sand Island late in the day when the wind had dropped off. Hooked a nice Trevally about 7 - 8 kg on a #9 weight.

Thursday was tough as well with the wind up early. Did better with a few good Tarpon one small Barra and a gaggle of little queenies and Trevor's all on the flats.

Friday I went wide early and was out on Roche reef at about 8 in the morning, had a blast with solid school Trevally about 3 - 4 kg on the #9 weight. It was a fish a cast til I got tired and picked up a spin stick with a chrome slice and caught about a dozen more. By 9.30 am the wind was howling and I was having trouble standing up in the boat and was copping slop over the sides so headed to outer Bare Sand island and got the fly rod out again and got stuck into heaps of little reefies. Variety was the order of the day with Tusk fish, Trevally, Queenies, Snapper, Mangrove Jack, Estuary Cod all about 20 - 30 cm long. Again a fish a cast for about an hour. I was awaiting for the wind to abate a bit so I could head back across Bynoe and around Charles Point to Dinah Beach.
By midday I had to come home and headed back into the wind. In absolute atrocious conditions it only took 1 1/2 hours back to Dinah beach from Quail Island in the big Oceanmaster. It just eats the rough chop and can sit on about 40kph through any water. Covered 344 Kms for the trip. It was great to sleep under the stars and was appreciative of the breeze at night. Makes me want to go again.
Hope you guys have a great outing at corroboree this weekend. Would love to be their with you.
 Roxley
