Lord Jim luckily gave away one of his secret Billabongs. So we decided on some dates and last Thursday we found ourselves down a windy track that went left then right then left then right again. Upon arrival we noticed a large amount of surface activity, this got us excited for the next day!

Thursday arvo. |
Day One:
Nice 58cm toga to start the trip off. PB Toga. |
Many Barra feeding or just cruising in schools.
First barra came on board not long after.
Old fart nailed this toga in the lilies.
That day we saw many barra and diamond skull mullet cruising around the top of the water which we assume is due to the higher water temp. After many frustrating follow ins and non interest from big barra we came across a feeding school. After many casts we finally caught barra in numbers including this
triple hook up
IN THE PLAGUES!
Day Two:
The next day another boat arrived causing the cruising schools to dive deeper and become easier to spook.
Fat archer fish. |
Unexpected and fat inhabitant. (the fish!!!) |
Day Three:
On day three the bigger barra finally stuck to the fly with many bigger fish being landed.
57cm model. PB on fly! |
Meanwhile we always had fun. |
Oh!!...to be young again...great story boys
ReplyDeleteCongratulations boys on your first post for the blog !! What a wonderful story. From your directions it's obvious that Lord Jim has sworn you to secrecy on the "location"! Great job. Can't wait for your next post !! Also, love your comment "we always had fun".....that's your new motto I reckon.

ReplyDeleteFantastic report and it was great being out there at the same time as you. I can confirm to all that you seemed to be having (a lot of) fun. This is what it is all about. Fish are a bonus!
By the way, thanks for the Bacon and Egg sandwich at 6am. Great cooking and don't be afraid to reveal your talents again.
