Who has ever caught a #LongtailTuna?? Did you know that in Dec 2006 Longtail were declared a "Recreation Only" Fish? Check out http://www.longtailtuna.com.au/
One of the great successes was that declaration, under the guidance of John Harrison CEO Afant at the time and my involvement as President of the NTGFIA. The other great success was the Bynoe Harbour Closure,it was so depressing to turn up on a flat and see nets blocking each end. I never had a problem with Commercials as there is a market for Barra for a lot of visitors but the interaction had to be avoided with tourism and recreational fishing Consider there are about 7 licenses now down from over 200 in the late 90's.
