With all the wind in the last set of tides I was lucky to only have to fish 11th, 12th, 13th, it turned out to be mostly a millpond, just happened to have a 78 yr old American and his son on a
Bow Hunting trip for Buffalo who decided something bigger then their 16 inch trout would be different, couldn't have asked for better,
Barra were numerous and caught plenty but having tried the usual big Queen fishy spots I remembered a place that I haven't fished in literally years.
So on the back of
"let's go have a look" I made the long trip( 45 minutes), they were actually still there, its called the "
Pommy Drop Off" which is one of those stories in my history best forgotten.
Great to see someone at that age get stuck into catching a fish like this on his 8 wt, I also told him to make sure if you stick the arrow in a buffalo's arse he wont be impressed and you better have somewhere to run.
Cheers Graeme
